The Alistair Harvey Foundation Scholarship Alumni Association (AHFSAA) organized a reunion dinner in Hong Kong on Saturday, 11 January 2025. AHFSAA alumni scholars reunited with Mr. John Ruddy, the Trust Protector for The Alistair Harvey Foundation Scholarship (AHFS), and celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year in advance.
The Alistair Harvey Foundation Scholarship (AHFS) was established in 2004 to provide academically bright and talented students at the Vocational Training Council (VTC) with scholarships to pursue further studies and cultural exchanges in the United Kingdom (UK). The scholarships aim to enable students to realize their dreams and broaden their life experiences. Over 200 students have already benefited from this generous donation. The Foundation has awarded over HK$100 million in scholarships. Every year, Mr. Ruddy visits Hong Kong to conduct final selection interviews with scholarship candidates. Additionally, he regularly contacts scholars, showing genuine concern for their studies and lives. As a result, this has cultivated deep friendships and maintained durable mentor-mentee relationships.
During the reunion dinner, the alumni scholars reunited with Mr. Ruddy, sharing humorous stories about their previous interview experiences, exchanged life anecdotes, and discussed their recent work situations. They also talked about how to face new challenges and improve adaptability in an ever-changing society. Mr. Ruddy encouraged all alumni, if they courageously confront the various difficulties in life, they will achieve success.
In celebration of the upcoming Lunar New Year, the AHFSAA had prepared exquisite gifts, Chinese and English couplets to express gratitude to Mr. Ruddy for his care and visits. Additionally, some alumni brought their kids to the event, creating a harmonious atmosphere akin to three generations living under one roof.
VTC Alumni Relations wish all alumni have good fortune and joyful year. We sincerely hope that the alumni will carry forward the benevolent spirit of supporting the development needs of fellow students and walk alongside them.
