Over 200 VTC students have benefitted from the generous donation by the Alistair Harvey Foundation since 2004. This substantial contribution has supported VTC students to realise their dreams and to further studies in the United Kingdom (UK). On Friday, 28 April 2023, the Alistair Harvey Foundation Scholarship Alumni Association (AHFSAA) held a warm and friendly dinner with Mr John Ruddy, the Trust Protector of the Alistair Harvey Foundation, as a greeting.
Mr Ruddy comes to Hong Kong to conduct the final selection interview with the scholarship candidates every year. The visits that he paid regularly to the scholars in the UK to understand their learning progress, had fostered a unique and wonderful relationship among themselves. Three years after the pandemic, 16 AFHS alumni scholars were thrilled to meet Mr Ruddy again in the gathering. They recalled the happy school life and warm memories when studying and living in the UK; and reconnected each other with updates on recent work and life. Mr Ruddy has been truly gratified with the personal and professional growth of alumni scholars as they all thrived to make a difference of their life. He encouraged alumni to continuously explore possibilities of different stages of life.
Mr Tony Wong, the Chairman of the AHFSAA, shared with attendees the future plan of the Association. On behalf of the Association, he also presented a gift to Mr Ruddy as a token of appreciation for his caring and visits for the scholars.
On this occasion, Ms Michelle Tse, the Deputy Director of VTC Institutional Advancement Office and colleagues of VTC Alumni Relations built further relationship with the Alumni Association. Gift boxes “Thank you cookies” supplied by VTC Social Enterprises, “SHINE・LIONS CLUBS CAFÉ”, were given to participants as their support means a lot to us. Indeed, it was a wonderful opportunity for alumni scholars to reminisce and look ahead. Sincerely hope that they could walk abreast with VTC, relay the benevolent spirit in support of the development needs of fellow students.
