John graduated from THEi with a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Sports and Recreation Management. He is a registered sports therapist in both the United Kingdom and Hong Kong, and serves as an executive member of the Sports Therapists Association of Hong Kong. He is the founder of the Cheung Chau Sports Therapy Centre and Cheung Chau Gym Buddy.
In 2023, John turned his attention to the silver-haired segment and developed a coach certification course specifically designed to provide exercise instruction for the young-old. The course is accredited by the Asian Academy for Sports and Fitness Professionals (AASFP) and is now running its fourth cohort, drawing participants who are passionate about training in supporting seniors’ health. As lead instructor, John emphasises that “older adults are a group who deserves our care.” Through professional guidance, he helps seniors maintain physical function, slow the effects of aging, and put the principle of “Aging with Purpose” into practice. He believes that growing older does not mean growing weaker. Proper training enables seniors to stay active in their communities and continue contributing their strengths.
As Hong Kong’s silver economy rapidly develops, demand for sports therapy and related services is rising. Leveraging his professional expertise and aligning with market trends, John has tapped into business opportunities. Through extensive outreach and education, public awareness of the role of sports therapy in prevention and rehabilitation continues to grow. John hopes to broaden his impact further so more people can benefit and live active, self-determined, and healthy lives.
