VTC Design Alumni Association (VTCDAA) organised a "Terrazzo Table Lamp Workshop" on 13 and 20 January. The workshop was instructed by Mr Stefan Chui, Founder and designer of Mr. Hammers, HKDI graduate of the Higher Diploma in Architectural Design. Alumni experienced the creative production of terrazzo and enjoyed a pleasant afternoon.
On its first day of Workshop, alumni learnt techniques such as colour mixing and mold casting. They selected their preferred colours and skilfully blended them to create unique effects, which were then molded into exquisite lamp bases. Alumni exchanged experiences and they were surprised by the one-of-a-kind colour blending effects.
After the terrazzo had dried, alumni proceeded with the polishing process on the second day of workshop. Under the guidance of instructor, they used grinding tools to make the terrazzo lamp bases smooth and aesthetic. Throughout the process, alumni demonstrated patience and meticulousness. They all left with a stunning piece of art that they can proudly display.
The workshop not only equipped alumni with the knowledge and skills of terrazzo production but also promoted environmental sustainability while utilizing natural materials. Alumni shared experiences and stories, collaborated on creative workshop, and showcased their unique creativity and talent.
