Through the profound generosity of the Alistair Harvey Foundation, over 200 VTC graduates were granted the opportunity to study abroad in the UK and realise their dreams. Many of them have achieved their goals through hard work and thrived to make a difference of their life. Another year, another batch of 24 academically bright and talented scholarship awardees are ready to embark their study journey very soon. Before departing for the UK, an Online New Scholars Welcome Gathering was organised on 2 September to celebrate their dreams come true.
Apart from new scholarship awardees, the fellow previous scholars; Mr John Ruddy, the Trust Protector for the AHFS; Ms Agnes Ng, the VTC Alumni Ambassador in the UK; and VTC staff representatives of Advancement Services and Alumni Relations also joined the celebration. Mr Ruddy began the event by extending a warm welcome to all awardees and encouraging them to engage wholeheartedly in their personal growth and academic studies. Ms Winnie Ngan, Director of VTC Institutional Advancement Office, proposed a vote of thanks to Mr Ruddy and Alistair Harvey Foundation for their staunch support to the VTC and Vocational and Professional Education and Training. Mr Tony Wong, Chairman of the Alistair Harvey Foundation Scholarship Alumni Association, introduced to them the Association, its past and future activities, and the liaison alumnus in the UK for immediate assistance if necessary. He encouraged scholars to take part in the scholar network in Hong Kong, giving support to each other and their younger fellows. During the break-out sessions, alumni also provided useful authentic tips for new scholars to prepare themselves for their new life in the UK. They were also encouraged to take every opportunity to explore and immerse in the culture of the UK in order to broaden the horizon.
Congratulations to all new scholars! We wish them all the best in their future endeavours, and appeal for their support to give back to their alma mater and fellow students.
