“Can you make a living simply by holding a belief?” Foodsport, a social enterprise, is on track to succeed through holding different sports events after 8 years of operation. Crowdfunded donations for food to the disadvantaged were made possible by conversion of calories burnt by participants during sports activities into equivalent calories of food. In the Foodsport Community Run at Kai Tak Runway Park that held recently, more than 11,000 kcal (which is equivalent to 56 bowls of rice) were successfully raised for donation to support the needy. Healthy Wong, founder of Foodsport and a VTC Alumnus, proved by actions that, by holding his own belief, he can make a living not only for himself, but for many others too.
To run a social enterprise, Healthy shared that the business must possess market value and uniqueness. Maintaining a high transparency of their work to the public was also essential, in order to engage more people to support their work for sustaining contribution to our society.
